クリスマスパーティー結構参加できました。
大学時代の友達を呼んで家でおしゃべり楽しんだ後、そのまま夜は新宿に流れて他のお友達の企画したクリスマスパーティーに参加。歌舞伎町に行ったの久しぶりだったけれど色んな世界がありますね。この頃は友達の結婚式にお呼ばれする機会あってホテルだったり神宮だったりするけれど、歌舞伎町とかで結婚式をあげるのもありなんですね。ラスベガスとかであげるのと同じような感覚だったりするのかな。

結構色んな人が参加してたパーチーですが結局知り合い同士で固まっておしゃべりしちゃう傾向。でも幹事さんの計らいで他の人たちと知り合う機会ももらいました。話を聞く限りみんななかなか自分の好きなことをして過ごしています。日本はどうしてもレールに敷かれた方向に進まなくてはいけないような雰囲気があるけど、あまり周りのこと気にせずに仕事を辞めたかったら辞めて、色んな不思議な会に参加したかったら参加したらよいと思います。と、抽象的なことしかいえないけど。

家では鍋パーティーもできたし。鍋はよい。まずあの買い物する過程が楽しいし何買ってもよいし。それに鍋は自然暖かい雰囲気になるし。おしゃべりがはずまなくても気にならない雰囲気。といってもしゃべり続けていましたが。やっぱりクリスマス一緒に過ごしてくれる友達がいるのは有難いことです。さていつ裏切られるかな～。

merry x'mas!

Merry X'mas! 今年もお陰で楽しく過ごせました。 atmosphere of the end of the year everywhere. 年末はどこもかしこも忙しい雰囲気になるけど結構好きです。この忙しい勢いに任せて今年起きた嫌な出来事だけ忘れられたらいいですね。

xmasに合わせてちゃんとcake作りました。左じゃなく右です。chocolate cake. sachertorte with yuzu jam (a kind of japanese marmalade) since i couldn't find apricot jam. スポンジは私にしてはかなりしっとりうまくできました。処理できずに困ってた成城石井のトリュフチョコ使ったのがよかったのかな。but the ganache turned out so bad~~. i put too much fresh cream in it and it didn't get firm. so the sponge part was a little bit soggy but it taste pretty good. 失敗したときにはとにかくデコレーションで隠すのがよい。だからクリスマス用sprinkleばらまきました。
でもせっかくだからnot only homemade one but i opened the cholate cake from erica. then i found out it was not a cake. it's all chocolate! chocolate xmas tree. erica's chocolate is one of my favorite, especially the one with marshemalow is the best. 甘いけど美味しいです。

鍋パーティーもできたし遊びすぎたかな？

big x'mas tree standing before avex group(big music company which ayumi hamazaki belongs to). i don't remember if i ever liked songs from this company (their songs target mostly teenagers) but this x'mas tree is fantasitic. changes its colors, beaming pretty illuminating decorations..... and the good thing about this place is that it's not crowded here than other place! oh i hate going out on weekend in tokyo. especially when you've got to be careful for norovirus.....

昔不思議な鍵ばあさんか何かの絵本で、こういう風に覆いで絵を描いた林檎が出てくるシーンがあって結構憧れた記憶があります。これでメッセージ書いて簡単にプレゼントできたら結構素敵だな。

I've joined another wedding party of my friend from university. so i had two wedding parties in a row in 2 weeks. and already have 3 reservasation of my friends' wedding parties in the next year. happy happy weddings everywhere! except here. oh well i won't complain. i don't even put much effort in that and i don't deserve the complaint, haha.

the wedding was awesome. i went as a side of bridegroom's friends and i could tell he was so nervous. but who can't be nervous facing the moment of the biggest ceremony in life? i get nervous even at the job interview. getting nervous at the wedding ceremony makes more sense.
(ところでこの間求職活動中に面接を受けたのですが、面接中に「英語が得意だそうですね。じゃあ"面接でとても緊張しています”と英語で言ってください」といきなり言われてしまった。それなのにi'm really nervousという言葉が出てこない！もう完全に日本語にもなっているのにぃ。で、i'm really getting stressed out at the job interviewと答えた。直訳すると「面接でストレス感じてます」。言った途端、やばいかな～と思ったのですが結果的にはokだったみたいです。よかった、よかった。

after the wedding ceremony was done solemnly in a church, we moved to gorgeous banquet place to have bridal reception. 坂の上に立てられた洋館（素敵な日本風家屋も併設）で武蔵野が見渡せいいところでした。全部で６０人くらいの披露宴だったのですがそれくらいが多すぎもせず少なすぎもせず良いと思います。家族、友達皆合わせて祝っている雰囲気があふれてて良いお式でした。i'm glad i could share the moment of happiness by being there. so who's the next?

M&A

this is a pic from my elementary school mate's wedding party. the bride looks soo pretty, doesn't she? she was wearing her mom's hand-knitted wedding dress and it was so nice on her.

I went to the wedding party with my friends from elementary school so it was more a reunion than a wedding party. we just kept eating, drinking and talking....we had really good time there and hope we didn't spoil the party's atmosphere.

ちょっと調子にのって飲みすぎたか。
花嫁、花婿そっちのけでおしゃべりに花を咲かせながら、みんなでお皿にこんもりお料理を盛って食べた食べた。立食形式のくせにあんなにお腹いっぱいになるって一体どういうことなんでしょ。普通結婚式といえば出会いの場なのにぃ。友達同士で固まって異様なオーラ出してたような、ごめんなさい。でもhappy wedding!

after one party is done, another party is coming! we just moved on to ropponngi to join other friends' party. Roppongi is an entertainment district so many foreigners get together. it was almost like I was back in Canada. much diversity over there. i could hear people speaking English, French and others...どうしてみんな六本木ばかり集まるんだろう。

it was fun but clubbing in japan costs a little expensive and it is too crowded! I couldn't even breath being mobbed by so many dancing ppl. ほんと死ぬかと思った。i felt odd to see so many ppl around 2 am but now i remembr richmond st& john st in toronto was like that too. universal.

六本木って夜遊びの街ではあるけど何がいまいち特別なのかも分からずそこまで好きなところではない。西麻布のほうまで行かないとあまり美味しそうなところも見つけられなさそうで。まあ映画館にしろrestaurantsにせよ朝までやっているところがあるのはある意味有難いのだけれどね。
だから朝８時まで営業のうどん屋入ったけどそこの銀杏おいしかった。今年は銀杏拾うの忘れちゃったなあ。塩をたくさんまぶして低温で炒るといいのかな。皮を腐らせるために土中に埋めるんだったか。

ちょっとくだらないけど・・・・ this is a nameplate on a building near my place. i just can't help laughing every time i pass by here. look at the person's name on the 4th floor! 里見茂. whoever have read comics "ガラスの仮面” will know the reason.

ここに住んでられる里見さんには悪いけれどいつも笑ってしまうのです。これって北島マヤの初恋相手と同姓同名だぞ～。あの漫画を読むたびに青春スターにしては古臭い名前だなあ、なんて勝手に思ってましたが。

写真

デジカメが壊れてずっと使えない状態です。仕方ないからこの頃はcamera phoneを使ってばかり。だから携帯にたまった写真を整理しようとのぞいてみたらちょっとショックだった。ほとんど食べ物と犬の写真ばかり。普段の生活が窺い知れるというか、もう少し興味の範囲を広げないとね。
でも美味しそうな食べ物の写真のほうが綺麗な景色の写真を後で見返すより楽しいです。

この頃は機械類に運がなく、パソコンも壊れてしまい保存していた写真やら音楽も全部消えてしまった。そろそろバックアップしようかなーと思ってた矢先のことで自分のずぼらさが責められる。だから何かの時のためにflickrのアカウントを作ったのでこれからそこに保存していくつもり。

この間四谷の若葉の鯛焼き食べました。尻尾までアンコが詰まっててこれぞ、鯛焼き！という感じでした。ちっちゃい頃にしょっちゅう食べていたという訳でもないのに何故か懐かしい気分にさせてくれます。それとこの頃いわゆる東京銘菓がやたら家にある。鳩サブレやひよこなどね。cosycornerとかひよことかは駅構内で売っているお菓子というイメージが強いからか馬鹿にされがちな感があるけど、ギンビスと同じで動物型のお菓子っていつ食べても楽しい。

あとこの頃好きな納豆の食べ方。おくらと半熟卵と一緒にダシ醤油と一緒にぐちゃぐちゃにして食べます。それなりに栄養のバランスも一気に取れた気になれます。

この頃やたら来客が多く、そうなると食べ物に触れる時間が多かった。常にご飯、デザート、飲み物に囲まれてまた太ってしまったかな。
でも色んな人が遊びに来てくれるとお菓子を作る機会も増えて嬉しいです。さすがにケーキ何台も作って一人で食べてしまうわけにも行かないので。

だからこの２週間ちょこちょこ甘いもの作りました。basicなpudding、applepie、shortcakeからbeer cakeなどまでね。

この頃お酒のケーキに凝ってます。基本のbrandy cakeの作り方さえ知ってれば、そのbrandyをsweet plum brandyやbeerにかえてみたり。家には昭和の時代からつけてある梅酒などがまだ残っているのだけれど、ただ梅酒の飲み時は漬けてから大体３年くらいとのこと。さすがにそのまま飲むにはちょっと味が濃すぎるので料理に使ってます。１つかじっただけで酔ってしまうほど漬かった梅を刻んで生地にいれて、焼きあがったケーキに濃い～梅酒をバシャバシャ振りかけるとちょっと梅の酸味が利いたかなり大人なケーキができます。ただお酒のケーキって焼き上げてから数日経って食べるほうが格段に美味しくなるので、その待っている間が結構辛い。

写真は豚のビール煮とビールケーキ。この間親戚一同が皆で家に遊びに来てくれたのですが、その時点で皆さんかなり出来上がってた。がんがんウィスキーやらビールを空けて騒いで楽しかったのだけれど、皆グラスにビールを注いだことを忘れて次のビールを開けて他のグラスに注ぐということを繰り返していたものだから、皆が帰った時点で中途半端に空いたビールが３L近く残っていることに気付いた。その処理に困って大量のビール煮とビールに浸したパウンドケーキ作りました。
ビール煮はただお肉にコンソメやら生姜やらを加えてビールでひたひたにして煮るだけだからかなり簡単。ビールのお陰でお肉も柔らかくなるし結構使えそう。ビールケーキもあの苦味がケーキとマッチしているかというのは個人の好みに分かれそうだけどたまになら悪くないです。
次はクリスマスに合わせてシュトーレンでもつくろうかな～。

voy a ir a taiwan de manana por este fin de semana con mi amiga! es mi primero vez para visitar ahi. parese que voy a otraz paises muchos veses demasiado? creo que tambien. dicen que taiwan es una paise como japon pequeno pero es muy interesante siempre para ir a otras paises. quedarnos ahi por solamente dos dias pero es suficiente porque comidas son parte de lo mas divertimento! voy a poster unas fotografias pronto.

japanese tv commercials

Now the business is getting better after long long recession in Japan. I really cannot tell that cause my life itself hasn't changed at all but one of the way to realize the economic boom in Japan is to watch tv commercials.
when the business is bad tv producers just tried not to spend much money into tv show making. they were trying to make mostly low-budget programs like comedy shows or quiz shows with low-paid tv talents. so were commercials. but it's changing now and I get confused if I were back to the time of the economic bubble every time when I watch tv commercials. There are soooo many Hollywood celebs are on! okay, here's some example....

I wonder how much the companies pay for the these actors. Can they gain the payback from selling the products over the performance fees for them? I don't think so. The CalorieMate Jack Bauer is advertising is only $2 box of cookies. hmmmm.....
I think it's kind of stupid that companies pay such huge wages for actors to make an advertisement (because you can make fun and efficient advertisement with low budget. good advertisement is the one which can leave strong impression on customers and it doesn't necessarily mean that it requires much money to be so. good example is play station commercials from SCE) but anyway it is fun to watch them.

L'artemis

いいfrench restaurant見つけました。L'artemis Petillante. 場所が原宿駅からも千駄ヶ谷からもしばらく歩かなくてはいけない、というのがたった１つの難ですがそれでも通いたい。

ここのいいところは見ただけでヨダレの出てしまいそうなメニューの多さもさることながら、フレンチとしては手の届き易い値段設定でありながら一流フレンチとしてのサーヴィスマンのプロ意識。丁寧で感じの良い対応の仕方、こちらの進行具合、体調を見ながらの量を増減してくれる気配り。お高くとまった感じはないのにああ～フレンチ食べに来た、と実感させてくれて満足感たっぷりです。
ワインについては私は全く知識ないけどそれでも数の多さは確認できた。ワイン好きにもきっとたまらないお店のはず。

私は今回前菜一品、メイン一品を選べるペティアントコースを選びました。他にもメイン２品や前菜２品の選べるコース、お任せコースなどがあるけれどアミューズなどがついてきてpaceも遅い事もありpetillant courseで十分おなか一杯になります。しかし結構時間かけてコースがでてきたのでぜんたいの回転は遅いお店のはず。その分coupleや気の合う友達と長居するのに最適。

私が頼んだ前菜：ズワイガニのフランとavocadoのカプチーノ。カップの下にたっぷりカニが詰まっていて真ん中にアボカドのムースっぽいもの。一番上がカプチーノの泡。綺麗な３層になっていて下からすくって戴きます。濃厚なのに泡でさっぱり。
私が頼んだメイン：wildrice詰めのうずらのroast。ライスが結構濃く味付けされているのでさっぱりめのうずらと一緒で丁度良い。

今回両親と両親のお友達と一緒に行き、みんなが頼んだものもつまみ食いしてしまった。前菜の瞬間燻製salmonと温泉玉子、人気menuらしいですがやはり美味しい。肉厚のサーモンそれだけで旨みがある。でも豚のほほ肉の煮込みを頼んだ父はその濃厚さがちょっと苦手だったよう。でもmainのお魚のじゃが芋とあさりの煮込みは美味しかったと言っていました。

それとやはりdessert! ４種類から選べるのだけど全部tryしたかったなあ。今回はいちじくのcomportにカキ氷（？）をかけたもの、chocolateの冷たい何か（ごめんなさい、覚えてません）、スポンジに洋ナシのコンポートをのせてriquer creamをひたしたもの、それと焼きたてスフレから選べた。
私は洋ナシ頼んだけどかなりお酒が効いていてサバランのような大人のデザート。イチジクも味見させてもらったけど絶品です。イチジク味のシャーベットがかなりお酒が利いてる。スフレもかな～り美味しそうだった。次回、次回。

結局２時間以上留まってしまいました。lunchもやっているので是非行きたいなあ。前から食べたかったお店なので今回行けてかなり満足でした。

ヤモリ

it's getting rare that ヤモリ(gecko) to be seen in big cities like Tokyo but I saw one at home today! my mom got freaked out seeing it but i was rather happy. this is Japanese gecko (Gekko japonicus) and we call it Yamori in Japanese. Yamori(家守り）,the word literally sounds "house guardian" and we take the animal a kind of good luck. No mention to it cleans up house bugs like mosquitos or spiders, superstition says ヤモリ keeps out bad omen from a house he is in.

だから外に逃がそうかちょっと迷ったけど家の中におきっぱなしにしてしまいました。それなりにクモとかもいるから餌に困らなければいいな。

いつもヤモリとイモリの区別ってしにくいのだけれど、ヤモリは爬虫類（reptiles)で５本指。イモリは４本指の両生類(amphibian)で水のあるところに生息する。虫はあんまり好きじゃないけど爬虫類とか両生類は可愛いなあ、と思う。このヤモリも結構可愛くて手の上で緊張しているのかじっとしていました。

cow parade!

so many cows appeared around Tokyo station out of nowhere. now cow parade is held even in Tokyo. my friend saw the cow parade while she was in Chicago and I believe I've seen it too somewhere in Toronto (or was that only a moose?) but I didn't know its history at all. so i checked a little about the cow parade and cow parade is.... a public art exhibition started in Zurich, Switzerland in 1998 and it spread to international major cities. the famous one is Chicago Cow Parade. the cows are made of fiberglass and they are to be auctioned after the exhibition was closed. 次の芸術家たちの育成などのお金に使われるのかな？

私は丸ビルに入ってた数頭しか見てないのだけれどそれだけでも可愛かった。まだやっているかどうか知りませんが丸ビル周辺で結構それなりの規模で牛が並んでいるようなので牛好きの人はどうぞ見てみて！

とんかつ

この頃トンカツづいてます。
で、結構どれも当り。

まずは銀座松屋に入ってる恵亭。二子玉川の高島屋にも入っているそうですが、あたりにあまりいいレストランも見つけられず前情報もなくふらっと友達と入ってしまったのですが、雰囲気は人気とんかつ店かつくらと似ているけれどお気に入りかつくらよりも好きだったかも。

他のとんかつ店同様、キャベツ、おしんこ、ゴハンなどはお替り自由。でも、ここのとんかつのさくさく感、かなり感激しました。それでいて全然油こくなく胃もたれしない。美味しさ実感、幸せ噛みしめながら食べることができました。とんかつダレもお好みで大根おろし付けるとさっぱりする。
キャベツもゴマダレかゆずだれ（だったかな？）選べるし、お漬物も４種類出て全部美味しいんです。汁物も豚汁というのが少し変ってる。とにかく二重丸で満足でした。

それから立て続けに今度は西麻布の豚組でトンカツにありつける機会が。
六本木から少し歩かなくてはいけないけど、西麻布交差点のすぐ近くの雰囲気ある一軒屋で経営してます。温かみのある黄色い建物、中はお洒落に和の雰囲気でまとめられ、二階からは欄干つき窓から外を見渡せ、となりの席とは障子で仕切ることができデートに最適な場所です。
ここがいいのは選べる豚の種類の多さ。人気のイベリコ豚(jamon Iberico)は今回入荷してなかったけど他にもTokyo Xやら今帰仁豚やらなんちゃらかんちゃら・・・・お店のお兄さんが丁寧にどの豚がどのように甘いか、などと説明してくれます。
油に気を使って常に新しい油に取り替えている事もあってやはりここもさくさく。ただちょっと油の量が多い気がした。お漬物も一種類なのがちょっと味気ない。でもゴハン（光ってた）と赤出汁美味しい。

やっぱりお店で食べるトンカツは家では出せない味ですね。昼と夜、そんなに変らない値段設定だから結構夜に気軽に食べられるケースが多いのが嬉しい。

sweet world

As everyone around me knows pretty much that I like baking sweet things, some of them gave me free admission tickets for the exhibition, Imada Minako, tart de la table et des gateaux held at Matsuya Departmane in Ginza.

Imada Minako is a one of the leading ladies who introduced the art of sugar decoration and europian styled table settings into Japan. In this exhibition they show so many elegant table settings and pieces of sugar decorations and they are soooo pretty.
Most of the sugar decorations take form of french styles(which she is really into) such as Marie Antoinette-looking dolls but they don't look like food anymore. They are almost perfect beautiful porcelain(actually there are many Lladro looking dolls and Wedgewood-like plate) or miniature sized art craft of Palace of Versailles.

この今田美奈子の華麗なる世界展、やはりお客はまわりは女性ばかりだった。やはり男性はもう脳の構造からしてあまりあういうのは興味を持たないのかなあ。
私などはヘンゼルとグレーテルのお菓子の家など永遠の憧れなので、見ててやっぱり楽しかったなあ。夕飯前だったのもあってかなりヨダレがたれそうになりました。ちっちゃめな展覧会だけど照明やセッティングも抑えた中に豪華な色使いで優雅な時間過せました。

呪いの黒髪屋敷

In Japan, going to "お化け屋敷"(something like Horror House or Haunted Mansion) in summer time is popular cause it can make you feel "chilly". As this event was to be closed this weekend I went to Kourakuen(後楽園) with my friends to try お化け屋敷.

I'd never been to this kind of horror house before. Of course there is a Haunted Mansion in Tokyo Disney Land and I love going there but it is totally different thing. Hauted Mansion in TDL is more cheerful and less scary (by the way isn't the uniform from the Haunted Mansion so pretty? If I ever had a chance to work in TDL I would definitely like to work there. The uniform from Star Tours seems the least attractive to me).
The TDL one is more fantasy-like, but Japanese traditional horror house is damn scary cause they use real-human as actors. It's the fear comes from bang or real body contact but not from creeps.
This summer they had particular theme for the attraction. "呪いの黒髪屋敷(Black long hair cursed house? if translated literally)". Imagine a house with the concept from the movie "Ring". Then that is the one. There are so many creatures with long black hair like 貞子 in the picture above everywhere in the dark tiny space and the task you have to pass is comb their hair. otherwise you can't go forward.

かなり怖いんです。これ。ラッキーなことに私は櫛をもって梳かす係じゃなかったけど、それでも前から上から後ろからどこから出てくるか分からない怖さ。お化けの怖さよりびっくりから来る怖さなのだけれど。途中までは作り物チックでしかも鬼太郎ワールド系のハリボテ的なお化けとかもいて結構笑えるんだけど、でも段々にリングとか着信アリ的な要素がどんどん出てきます。やっぱり本物の人間使うと急に怖くなる。

今回４人で行ったけど、みんなぎゃーぎゃー言って初めは全然進まず小さいお化け屋敷内でかなり交通渋滞作ってたくせに後半はずっと走ってた。
but it was fun. since it was weekend we had to lineup almost one hour and I wonder if it's worth to that long waiting time but it is an experience.

やはりでもお化けというのはかなり国々の文化というものが出る。ドラキュラとかフランケンシュタインというのは非日常的で全く怖くないけど、日本のお化けはあの長い黒髪の気持ち悪さとか日常の感覚に訴えてくるものがあるとおもう。日本の家固有の狭さとかもね。どこで出てきても逃げる事が出来ない。海外のscary movieなんてみんな豪邸で起きてる事件なのに何故か皆３階の奥の部屋に逃げたりとかして、それはおかしいでしょ。

とにかく結構楽しかったので来年もtryしちゃうかも。

カリブの海賊

I know it sounds kind of late but I went to watch "pirates of the caribbean: deadman's chest" and I loved it. The special effects were amazing and Johnny Depp did great in this movie too (he is one of the greatest actor of all times. anyone know any movie in which he acted poorly? maybe one of my "not-so-favorite movies" with him is "From Hell" or "Blow", but it's just because the story is gloomy. it is not his fault).

This movie is long (2.5 hrs) and I remind you of going to washroom before it starts. you don't want to miss any scene. I felt like going to washroom even before reaching to the last half but I just kept my patience. ちょっと辛かったね。
Some plots seemed not necessary to the main story (like parts involved with hannibals) but you'll enjoy even those irrelevant parts. a lot of fun.

If you hadn't seen the first one it is highly recommended to see it before you watch "the deadman's chest". Many plots are connected to the first one and you'll understand and enjoy the story more. In "Curse of the Black Pearls", Orland Bloom was not standing out enough before Johnny Depp's world but he is doing a lot better this time.

So this is one of best movies of the year. either boys or girls, youngs or olds would enjoy this (maybe it would be too scary for little kids though). Only a few regrettable things about this movie: it comes from Disney (too narrow outlook on things, do you think?) and I have to wait the sequence till next summer.

でもいつも思うのだけどこの頃は映画の邦題もそのまま英語をカタカナ表記するものが多いのね。あまり好きじゃない。絶対”カリブの海賊”といったように訳すほうがしっくりくると思います。昔の方が”風と共に去りぬ”とか”ダイヤルＭを廻せ”といった感じで上手く訳したりひねったものが多かった気が。まあ、確かCharlie Sheenだったか誰だかの出てる映画で”野獣教師”という映画があってその訳もどうかと思うけど（原題知りません）、でも最近で好きだった訳は"ミニミニ大作戦”。原題では"the italian job"だけどmini cooperを使うシーンによく似合う邦題だと思う。でもこれリメイクらしいです・・・・ということは最近訳された題ではないのか。

This is my dog Hana. Isn't she pretty? I had two dogs before (pug and shelty) and for some reason they all end up being good lookings. Oh I envy them. Being there is their job. Just their presence makes us happy. There should be something I can learn from them.....

何はともあれ a life with dogs. priceless. デスネ。

there were many other animals I had other than dogs. budgerigers. beetles. rabbits. gold fish and turtles.

turtles were one of my favorite pets. they ate feed from my hands and it is really lovely. each of them has different personality (turtlality?) and I named them with suitable ones.

once you had cats, I guess you'll become a repeater too. 以前に大家さんが飼っていたRussian Blueの猫ちゃんがしょっちゅう部屋に遊びに来てくれたけど十分可愛かったもの。一度嫌がらせでベッドの下に糞をされてかなり困りましたが。
